ROAR!
Westhill Community Church places great importance on our children and believe them to be a vital part of our church and Roar is our Children’s ministry. We meet on a Sunday morning whilst the morning service is on. The children stay with their parents in church for the first part of the service and then are invited to follow the paw prints up to the Roar room and begin their time together.
The format is the same each week, with big group time - fun games and challenges, prayer and worship, followed by small group time - when the children are split into age groups and have some more in depth Bible teaching. We use the Scripture Union material to plan our sessions.
Roar members take part in the All Age Worship service on the first Sunday of every month and rejoin the congregation on the 2nd & 4th Sundays of the month for communion.
Our aim during the sessions is to foster a fun, happy and inclusive atmosphere, where the children feel cherished and confident. It is within this environment that they can learn about and encounter the love of Jesus.

Why Roar?
In the Bible, Judah was Jacob's 4th son and he had a tribe of people that he would look after. This tribe had a lion as its symbol. The lion symbol could be put on flags to go into battle and reminded the tribe how brave lions are. Over many, many, many years lots of children would be born into this tribe, and Jesus would be a part of this tribe.
Sometimes the Bible uses pictures to describe Jesus' character, and the picture of the lion describes how fearless and victorious Jesus was and still is today. Jesus beat death so that everyone can live free from the bad things we've done or will do. So like a lion, we roar His name, celebrating how amazing He is! |
