Welcome

You are welcome to come along to one of our regular Sunday services, whether you are just visiting the area, or are considering which church the Lord might want you to be involved in.   We hope this might be the place for you but if not, then let us pray for you, that God will lead you to the right place.

If we can help you in any way then please do contact us.

Services

Our Morning Worship varies in style, from the All Age Service on the first Sunday of the Month to the Holy Communion Services which are held twice a month and our monthly Healing and Renewal Service on the third Sunday of each month. For more information about all our services times click here

Vision

Picture
We seek to be a church on the move:

Moving In through Fellowship
Moving Out through Evangelism
Moving Up through Worship

Values

We are a church that seeks to be committed to the Great Commandment 'to Love' and the Great Commission 'to Go'. We seek to do this by upholding six 'G' values:

Glory - Bringing Glory to God through a lifestyle of worship.
Gospel - Share the transforming power of God.
Growing - Becoming more like Jesus.
Groups - Encouraging and caring for one another through small groups.
Gifts - Serving one another through identifying and using God-given gifts.
Giving - Releasing resources for the church through good stewardship of
our money, time and talents.

Ministries

Picture
We seek to serve Jesus by reaching out to others in the community, with the love of Christ.

e do this in practical ways, such as our Care in the Community ministry, and our café that runs during the week. To find out more about the different ministries we provide click here.

Worship
Picture
Our aim is for worship to be a 24/7 activity. We long to worship God passionately, in ever-increasing abandonment and with a growing revelation of His nature and character. Worship here is to God, for God and about God.

Children

Our Journey

The church was planted as an extension of a local Episcopal (Anglican) church in the 1970s, as Westhill underwent an expansion which reflected the growth of the region due to the rise of the energy business. At the time it was known as Westhill Episcopal Church.  We were first located in the local parish church and community centre operating as an ecumenical hub in the town. The church family has grown from a small number to its current membership of about 150.  In 2011 the church was gifted land at Old Skene Road on the edge of town upon which to build a church.  The present building was completed in 2014, paid for by the congregation. We changed our name to Westhill Community Church to emphasise our commitment to serve the local community, to be a place of prayer, healing, renewal and refreshment for all.

In 2019, members voted to leave the Scottish Episcopal Church. The process involved a change in legal status, with the church becoming a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO). We  remain an Anglican church, but since late 2023, have carried out our Christian mission and service independent from the governance of the Scottish Episcopal Church.  We are a member of the Anglican Convocation Europe (ACE) and are affiliated to the Evangelical Alliance.

Rev Ian Ferguson was the Rector from April 1982 until he retired in 2020. Rev David McCarthy was appointed Rector in March 2024. During the inter-regnum, a team of five lay elders carried the bulk of the teaching and pastoral ministry of the church.

In April 2024, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the opening of the church building, a short video recalling its history was produced. It can be viewed here.
